Wake Robin MorrisJoiningDo you find Morris intriguing? We welcome interested women who want to dance and/or play music. Traditionally, we practice on Wednesday nights at the Bangs Community Center in Amherst, MA from 7:30 to 10pm. After practice we go to a local pub to socialize and sing. We start our new practice season every January and that is when we accept new members. By May Day, the new dancers are usually ready to dance out with us. May and June are our main dance out months. During the summer we usually take a break. It's too hot to dance. This is a time to get together for singing, though we try to do that all year long! In September, we reassemble to get ready for the Harvest Tour in early October. After the Tour, we decide what different thing we'll work on until January. We've done Border, Sword, pickup dancing, learned a new tradition, etc. If you are interested in learning more about us, come to a practice or e-mail us. No prior experience needed, just enthusiasm and an absence of Y-chromosomes. We start teaching dancing in January, but come and hang out with us before that and see if our craziness matches yours! If this sounds good to you, but you have those pesky Y-chromosomes, check out Juggler Meadow Morris Men or the Marlboro Men who also practice in Amherst. |
