Join Us!

Wake RobinDo you find morris dancing intriguing?  Do you want to dance with us? Do you want to play music for the dancing? We are an historically women’s team who have expanded to welcome non-binary and gender non-conforming folk to our team.

We practice on Wednesday nights at the Bangs Community Center in Amherst, Mass from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. After practice we try to go to a local pub to socialize and sing.

Our practice season starts in January, so that is an especially good time to join us. By May Day the new dancers are usually ready to dance out with us. May and June are our main dance out months, though we dance some in the summer and we try to get together regularly all year, if not to dance, then to sing and socialize. Dance practice starts on the first Wednesday evening in January.

In September, we reassemble to get ready for the Harvest Ale, which is our local weekend-long tour in early October. We host this jointly with Juggler Meadow Morris Men.

After the Harvest Ale, we decide what we’ll work on until January. We’ve danced border, sword, pickup dancing, and/or learned a new tradition, etc.

If you are interested in learning more about us, come to a practice or email us. No prior experience needed, just enthusiasm. We start teaching dancing in January, but come and hang out with us before that and see if our craziness matches yours!

If this sounds good to you, but you identify as male, check out Juggler Meadow Morris Men who also practice in Amherst.
